Australian
Privacy Principles (APPs)
1. Open and Transparent
Management of Personal Information (APP 1)
Visa2AU has implemented robust practices, procedures and systems to
ensure compliance with the APPs. We have a clearly expressed and up-to-date
privacy policy that is easily accessible on our website. This policy outlines:
- The types of personal
information we collect and hold
- How we collect and store this
information
- The purposes for which we
collect, use, and disclose personal information
- How individuals can access and
correct their personal information
- How to complain about a breach
of the APPs and how we will handle such complaints
- Whether we are likely to
disclose personal information to overseas recipients
2. Anonymity and
Pseudonymity (APP 2)
Where practicable, we provide individuals with the option of not
identifying themselves or using a pseudonym when dealing with our organization.
However, due to the nature of immigration services, this is often not feasible.
3.
Collection of Solicited
Personal Information (APP 3)
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary
for our functions and activities. We collect information by lawful and fair
means, primarily directly from the individual.
4.
Dealing with Unsolicited
Personal Information (APP 4)
If we receive unsolicited personal information, we determine whether
we could have collected it under APP 3. If not, we destroy or de-identify the
information as soon as practicable.
5. Notification of the
Collection of Personal Information (APP 5)
We take reasonable steps to notify individuals about the collection
of their personal information, including the purpose of collection, and how
they can access and correct their information.
6. Use or Disclosure of
Personal Information (APP 6)
We only use or disclose personal information for the primary purpose
for which it was collected, or for a related secondary purpose that would be
reasonably expected. Any other use or disclosure is done with the individual's
consent or as required by law.
7. Direct Marketing (APP 7)
We only use personal information for direct marketing purposes with
the individual's consent and provide a simple means to opt-out.
8.
Cross-border Disclosure
of Personal Information (APP 8)
We do not disclose personal information to overseas recipients
unless we have taken reasonable steps to ensure they comply with the APPs, or
the individual has consented.
9.
Adoption, Use or
Disclosure of Government Related Identifiers (APP 9)
We do not adopt, use or disclose government related identifiers
unless permitted by the APPs.
10. Quality of Personal Information (APP 10)
We take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we
collect, use, and disclose is accurate, up-to-date, complete, and relevant.
11. Security of Personal Information (APP 11)
We have implemented robust security measures to protect personal
information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorized access, modification,
or disclosure. Our data is backed up every 12 hours to secure cloud storage
located in Australia, using modern approved encryption methods.
12. Access to Personal Information (APP 12)
Upon request, we provide individuals with access to their personal
information, unless there are legal grounds for refusal.
13. Correction of Personal Information (APP 13)
We take reasonable steps to correct personal information to ensure
it is accurate, up-to-date, complete, relevant, and not misleading. If we
refuse to correct information, we provide reasons for the refusal and
mechanisms to complain about the refusal.
By adhering to these principles, Visa2AU ensures
that its data handling practices are compliant with Australian privacy laws and
respectful of individual privacy rights. Our use of secure, Australia-based
cloud storage with regular backups and modern encryption methods further
demonstrates our commitment to protecting personal information in line with the
APPs.
